drive up mountain until Buddhist monastery, -trailhead parking across the road.

Mt Tremper fire tower
(great views)
From Woodstock – Follow State Route 212 (west) out of Woodstock, and continue until you reach Mount Tremper.
At the four-way intersection, turn right on Ulster County Route 40.
Proceed about 2.5 miles, and the trail head and parking area are on the right.

Ashokan Reservoir
The best views of the Catskill Peaks,
drive west on rt 28 to reservior rd. (Winchells corners), make right, cross reservoir. bear left on rt 28A,
go about a mile, turn left (first left off28A) go 500 yds to parking area(frying pan.)
